This past weekend I had the honor of being a groomsman in the wedding of two of my closest friends, Joseph West and Melissa Fitzgerald. They are both amazing photographers and Joe in particular has been a huge ally in helping me get into wedding photography. I can't even begin to say enough nice things about them both. It was a beautiful wedding at the Capri Lounge at the Thunderbird Hotel in Marfa, Texas. The whole weekend was a big party for 3 days with all the closet people in my life, it was just amazing. It was also the first wedding in a very long time that I actually attended as a guest and more importantly as part of the wedding party. I forgot how different of an experience it is from when I'm shooting.
I snapped this shot with my Fuji X-E2 mirrorless since I didn't bring any of my normal gear with me over the weekend. At this point all the other groomsmen were out exploring the city before the wedding and I was tasked with staying behind to help Joe tie his bow tie since it's sort of my thing(though tying a bow tie on someone else is SOO much harder!) If you're not already close friends with someone, go ahead and spend 10 minutes trying to tie a bow tie on them and you will get close very quickly haha. It's quite the intimate experience. It's definitely one part of the weekend I won't ever forget and I feel soo lucky to have had the opportunity.
Cheers to you, Joe and Mel. I don't have words to properly express how much you both mean to me, so I'll just say I love you and leave it at that. I can't wait to see how our friendship grows through these next phases of our lives.
Your dear friend,
Oh, and if you haven't seen their work please do yourself a favor and go look right now!
